About this Talk

This class is designed for military veterans and their families who are craving a more grounded, self-sufficient, and purposeful way of life—no matter where they’re stationed or how often they move. Drawing from my own experience as a disabled Air Force veteran, an active-duty spouse, and the owner of Pi Farms in Georgia, I’ll walk you through the real, raw, and rewarding journey of building a sustainable homestead—whether you’re on a few acres or working with container gardens on base housing. What You’ll Learn: ✔️ The why behind homesteading—healing, self-sufficiency, purpose ✔️ How to start small (even with frequent moves) and grow from there ✔️ Raising rabbits, goats, and pigs—breeding, feeding, processing ✔️ Growing your own food—from seed to storage (canning, freezing, fermenting) ✔️ Managing time, energy, and farm life while solo-parenting during deployment ✔️ Using holistic practices for family and livestock wellness ✔️ Budgeting, record keeping, and using your skills to generate farm income ✔️ Creating a community through your homestead—supporting other veterans Why This Class Matters: Military families face a unique kind of instability, but also carry incredible resilience. Homesteading offers more than food security—it’s a form of therapy, stability, and legacy building. This course is more than just “how to farm”—it’s about reclaiming your family's sense of place and power.
